How do I get a Mental Health Care Plan?

A GP can assist you with getting a MHCP. It’s usually be best to book in a longer appointment so your GP can adequately assess and discuss your mental health difficulties. In order to be eligible for a MHCP, your GP will need to diagnoses you with a mental health condition. This is typically assessed using short questionnaire’s such as the K10 or DASS-21. This will need to be completed before your first appointment to allow you to be eligible for the associated rebate.
